Xantrex Freedom SW3012 Inverter/Charger
815-3012

12V, 3000W - 120 Vac / 60 Hz

Powerful. Configurable. Versatile...

The NEW GENERATION Freedom SW series represents highly sophisticated and advanced inverter/ chargers available in 3000 W with 150 A charger and 2000 W with 100 A charger models.

Product Description
The second generation 3000 watt model has been completely redesigned to include many of the same great features found in its high power counterpart.A key feature enhancement is 'Generator Support Mode' which enables the Freedom SW to supplement a generator when AC loads exceed the generator's capacity. The new generation models also feature improved AC transfer/AC input detection time, providing the ability to transfer AC loads to batteries in less than 10 milliseconds when the incoming grid or generator power is lost. Connected loads are almost unable to feel the power transition due to this quick transfer time. Both models are approved to UL458 with marine supplement, CSA, ABYC and FCC, Class B requirements.

NEW - PARALLEL AND SERIES STACKING

Parallel stacking enables the Freedom SW inverter/chargers to double the AC output in inverter mode. Series stacking enables the Freedom SW inverter/chargers to generate 120/240 V split phase output2

2 AC source must be split phase, requires Stacking Cable (part# 808-9005)

Application
Designed for a variety of mobile applications such as commercial, emergency and recreational vehicles, marine vessels, construction and military equipment.

I've run the Xentrex Freedom 12 Volt series Inverter/Charger in an Off-Grid house in the Interior of Alaska for about 5 years now. The thing is a workhorse. I even run out and use my chop saw or table saw for quickie cuts with no problem. If I'm doing heavy work I'll run the genny and use the AC pass through to run my tools. Recently I did "Weld a Relay" according to the code, but it was fixed by a local guy in a few hours. Since we are off-grid and use a Toyo for our primary heating our inverter has to be dependable. This Xentrex Freedom Series is dependable. So much so that I'm buying a 2000w unit for my back up. Recent events has taught me that having a back-up is a must when it is -40-Ş. I have a 880 Amp Hour AGM bank. We can charge with the Xentrex using the genny from 80% up into the 90%s within an hour in the morning before we head off to work. Then at night when we get home I run the genny to charge for 3 or 4 hours. Of course this is only during dark winter. From April through August we don't need the genny like that. The Solar Array handles the charging of the bank then.I didn't give it 5 stars because the wiring harness for incoming and outgoing power is a PITA to wire. It's back inside and around a corner. Using 8 gage wire and trying to bend in around the corner, then feed it into the little mounts it's for someone with teeny, tiny hands and the patients of a saint.Over-all, if you can afford it, BUY IT!!

This is an excellent inverter, and it does exactly as the Xantrex product description states. Vernon's biggest problem is he did not understand the description furnished by Xantrex. His problem with Xantrex customer service is valid. Unfortunately for Vernon, Xantrex is very reluctant to help customers that did not purchase the product direct from Xantrex or a designated dealer. Vernon is being treated as if he purchased the inverter second hand. I suggest phoning Xantrex corporate from 5:30am-5:00pm PST, Mon-Fri at 1-800-670-0707, and explain the problem. Xantrex builds fine products, their customer service needs improving. If more people like Vernon voice their complaints directly to corporate, maybe we will see an improvement.

Other than a little noisier than the Equinox it replaced, it's a great unit! Since the Onan Equinox is no longer available, there was no option but to replace it when it quit. After installing the unit, even if the Equinox was still available, I would select the Xantrex. The Xantrex has features no RV should be without. Make sure you purchase the Xantrex Automatic Generator Start, (AGS). The additional functionality is worth the investment.
