I first ran into this type of device more than 60 years ago. There was one laying around the shop and I tried it out. A few uses of this old device made me aware of why it was laying around the shop. While it did work most of the time it didn't come close to the speed of skilled use of a conventional "V notch" stipping device. When I saw that a reputable maker of electricians tools, "Klein", had come out with their version I decided to try it. The fancy adjustments, shiny black finish, and plastic grips were enough to make me put my money down. Alas, not much has been learned in the last 60 years. It does work but has some real detracting details.1. Quality - The wire cutting device is not correctly aligned. The shear blades catch when they first contact. After fifty of so operations the corners wore down and only catch a little bit, but it is still distracting. Maybe it will go away after several thousand uses.2. The tiny knobs are difficult to use. They are so small that even my small hands had difficulty getting them tight enough to hold adjustment, especially the wire length stop. Use a small pliers and you can get them tight enough, but this means grabbing another tool to tighten or loosen. A finer thread on the knobs might have solved this problem.3. The maximum stop length is a little short if you want a stripped length sufficient for forming much of a wire loop.4. It does not strip off the outer layer of romex. It never said it would, but the package narration would lead you to believe it would. My mistake.Sorry Klein but this tool is not up to your usual quality. So after sixty years it will probably still "lay around the shop".

I had to reorder this same item 3 times because they came defective. You couldn't squeeze the handle because the cutting blade was crisscrossed. I tried squeezing with both left and right hand and same result. The only reason I was persistent I lost my old one and it worked great...
