It's a great tool but the sizes are off if you have double coated speaker wire. I had to use the 18 gauge setting for 16 gauge wire otherwise it would take too much copper while stripping. I used it to strip Mediabridge 16AWG 2-Conductor Speaker Wire. After you use it a couple of times, you figure out the appropriate size to use with the tool.

The item I received is not what is in the picture. The item I received is the newest model and not the last generation item pictured; which is what I thought I was buying. Very disappointed.

I've used several brands of Wire cutters/strippers and each and every one of them has let me down in some way. Either the blades became dull, the tool itself broke or was never sharp enough to begin with. Then I came across the Klein Tools wire Stripper Cutter and have since not once ever had a problem. Not only is this tool made in USA, but this tool actually has a nice grip to it as well. Best of all with the grip, is that is removable and that it's actually very comfortable as well.I also like the fact this tool has a black oxide finish so there is guaranteed rust resistance as well. But what truly set's this tool apart from every wire cutter/stripper I've ever owned is the fact that it's actually very sharp and it can strip multiple types of gauges from 22-9 gauge wire and that is a giant plus. This is a great tool and it's from Klein Tools, so it's guaranteed to last and provide a great job. However, this tool is not insulated nor does it have a CAT rating, so if your looking to for an cut into wire that may contain voltages ranging to 1000, I highly recommend Klein 11055-INS Insulated Klein-Kurve Wire Stripper/Cutter, Orange for that type of work. Safety should always come first and this tool has CAT IV protection so it's worth the money if your going to working with industrial grade wire and such.

I have used Klein wire strippers for years, for both residential wiring and electronics. They have always cut straight through the insulation with no second guessing. I have no doubt this pair will do the same performance wise.My gripe, and reason for knocking it two stars, are the handles. First star (and yes this is personal preference): while they may be more ergonomic to grip than the thin, plasti-dipped version, they are bulky, and don't slide easily into a tool bag side "pocket", or my own back pocket. Second, the grippy handle material, combined with the yellow, make them nearly impossible to keep clean. I'm not a neat freak by any means at work, but the old PVC/plastic handles wipe clean much easier.

If you need accurate wire cutters, these are the only ones that keep a sharp edge and will cut the insulation perfect and not mar the secondary insulation or wire. They are the best and beat the competition hands down. Do no buy cheap wire strippers/cutters, they are just extra work..........BUY A KLEIN.............E FLOYD
